Frontals Vs Closures

Choosing closures vs. frontals

When it comes to wearing hair extensions, the goal should always be to obtain a natural-like appearance. No one deliberately wants their weave to be easily detected. Many installations require leaving parts of the front of your hair to cover tracks. But with this comes the hassle of blending your own hair texture with that of the virgin extensions. Many times in order to be successful at this blending process, heat constantly has to be applied resulting in damage to your natural hair. Thanks to closures and frontals we can now cover the front of the hair where you would have your leave out and still have the appearance of a natural hairline.

The Difference

The big difference in a closure and frontal is the construction, the materials used, and how they are applied.

Generally, a closure is used for sew in installations. If placed properly behind the hairline it can allow the wearer to wear a full weave with no hair left out while giving the appearance of a natural scalp area.

Frontals cover a larger area than closures because they run from temple to temple. This larger temple to temple area in combination with the replication of a natural hairline allows for many off the face type of hairstyles that are not possible with a regular closure.

Why Closures?

Closures are one of the most revolutionary techniques in the hair extensions industry. The Wow Factor’s lace and silk based closures help you achieve a more natural full head installation and natural hairline look. Our closures are designed with a durable base to enhance the finished look of your hair.

Why Frontals?

Frontals can be used to conceal loss of hair along the hair line. They have an ear to ear coverage area designed to mimic your own hairline. Frontals can also be used to create a more affordable lace wig. They however require an experienced stylist to achieve that close to perfect hairline look. Otherwise you end up with a too full, unnatural hairline.

Lace Closures vs Silk Closures

Lace closures means the base is lace. Silk closures means the base of the closure is silk. Lace closures give a scalp-like appearance when placed against your skin or natural scalp. They also allow for a very flat and easy application that will make your install look very real. However, you will need to do some tweaking to lace closures to achieve the best results. Because the hair strands are directly embedded into the sheer lace, tiny black knots where the hair and lace meet are visible when placed against your skin, which means you’ll have to bleach the knots to get rid of the grid-like effect the dots create.
